Buford Court Apartments
Ca. 1920 apartment building utilizes historic tax credits for new basement units.
The Buford Court Apartments (now known as Andrews Court) is a historic multi-family apartment building located in the heart of the Poncey-Highland Historic District in Atlanta, Georgia. Situated on the south side of Ponce De Leon Avenue NE, the U-shaped apartment building has been a mainstay on the street for over 100 years.
Current ownership has utilized historic tax credits to complete a rehabilitation of the property including the construction of new units at different basement levels. Modern units preserve the historic character of existing interior spaces while also creating attractive living spaces in one of Atlanta’s desirable historic neighborhoods.
This rehabilitation project is a fantastic example of the importance of state and federal level historic tax credit program. Leveraging tax credits assists in not only long term preservation but also building campaigns.
Verity’s role in tax credit consultation includes completing applications, interpreting preservation guidelines and standards, and operating as a go-between at the state and federal levels.
